"R da rangers in black ops ??"

Asked by Anonymous

No they are not even close. They are Special Operations light infantry, they are under USASOC. Army Rangers would be classified as “Shock Troops,” they hit harder and faster then conventional Army units, and have many capabilities, but they are a long way from “Black Ops.” BOs don’t exist… that’s the whole point.

To clarify, when I say the 75th supports Special Operations, I do not mean to say, that is their purpose as a Regiment. They have their own mission and doctrine, but historically they are the go to guys to help give Special Operations teams extra muscle.

Black Ops get their name from the level of secrecy the missions are conducted on. On paper these missions technically never took place. The world of Black Ops is very confusing and complicated, it’s hard to gather intel and hard facts about the operators and and their missions. That’s exactly the way those who take part in them like it to stay.

  2. william-elms said: Exactly. Sick of these MW3 playing idiots. We have SOC. We have recon/light infantry. We have (as Americans) the best special operations troops in the world (apologies to the SAS). We don’t have BO. Technically.
  3. soldierporn said: Well, technically, only the Green Berets are “Special Forces” and all the rest are “Special Operations Forces”… right?
